Bus Station in Georgetown Texas

The City of Georgetown has proposed to create a bus station in Old Town. This depot will be a regional hub for all of Williamson County, comprising long-distance bus station and maintenance facility, taxi service, and light/heavy rail station.

The proposed location is on the edge of the Historic Overlay District, at the northern gateway to Southwestern University, and at the southern gateway to award-winning San Gabriel Park, one of the jewels in Georgetown’s crown.

Everything that this proposed development embraces will become blighted. Every road leading to the Bus Terminal will be blighted. Roads running THROUGH the Historic Overlay District will require major redevelopment, and will become blighted.

The proposed site for the Terminal will require rezoning to allow it to be built there. The long-residential neighborhood must be rezoned to mixed-use, in other words, this Old Town neighborhood must be deliberately BLIGHTED.

This website stands in total opposition to the City’s proposal, and exists to present information and to allow discussion on the plan.
